For over a month now, I have been working hard to get into shape. I go to the gym 3 days a week. I stay within my calorie budget. I don't eat very much junk food at all. Despite all of my efforts, I have not lost any more weight. Why the heck not!? It's not like I work out and then come home and binge eat. I am very reasonable with my eating. I am even to the point where, I am full off of smaller portions. Apparently, my stomach is getting used to it. But why, oh why, won't it shrink??
I woke up this morning and weighed myself. Nothing. Not. A. Damn. Thing. You have got to be kidding me. Something has got to give. This makes me look like I am cheating. Maybe I'm doing something wrong, but I am 'not' cheating. I really am trying, very hard. Piece of crap scale.
I went to the gym (with my brand new shoes) and began with my cardio. I walked at a 3.0 pace and a 4.0 incline for 60 minutes (just like I always do). After my hour, I went down stairs to work on the machines. Today was chest day. Thank god for that, I would not have been able to do legs today. Those are Thursdays workout. My work out went good, it changed my mood. After I was completely done, I felt a lot better. Even if I am not seeing results yet, I feel mentally better. I feel better about myself. Am I happy with myself? No. I won't be for a while, but I felt good, I felt healthier.
Now, to the fun part.
I go to the gym in the mornings, it is the least crowded time of the day. Just because there aren't any lines at the machines, does not mean that you can occupy the equipment without using it. I watched a lady of the leg extension today. She did a set and then was approached by a friend. They talked for a good 15-20 minutes without using the machine again, until they were done talking. I know, it isn't a huge deal if there isn't anyone waiting to use it. But how can you really tell if no one is waiting. I use other machines while I wait for the ones I want to open up. I do not approach people to ask when they will be done etc. For all that lady knows, someone was patiently waiting to use her machine while she was running her mouth. At least work out while you talk.
On another note. Men are not the only ones who go to the gym. Women go too. A lot of people like to wear yoga pants or spandex, I have no issues with that. But please, for the love of god, wear underwear! I for one, do not find it attractive to see someone's butt, eat their pants. It's gross. Are some women really that concerned about how they will look at the gym (where we all sweat)?

Ahh I hate when people are 'holding' a machine but aren't using it. That happened to me a couple of weeks ago. This woman left a piece of paper on the leg curl machine. I moved it and she ran over from the machine she was using just to bitch at me.
ReplyDeleteDon't get discouraged about not seeing your weight results. You're still in the beginning of this whole thing, it takes time. It's important that you stay consistent though. Don't give up :)
